One of the most traditional Russian recipes is definitely Okroshka which is a cold soup mainly eaten in the summer season. Although, there are many ways to prepare this dish, Okroshka prepared with Kvas, which is a kind of fermented beverage made of black or regular rye bread, is the most common type. On the other hand Okroshka originates from the Russian word "kroshit" that means to chop.

  • 4 Eggs.
  • 4 Cucumbers.
  • 300 gr. Onions.
  • 500 gr. Radishes.
  • 2 tsp. Mustard.
  • 2tso. Sugar.
  • 300 gr. Dill.
  • 1 cup sour cream.
  • 12 cups of Kvas.
  • Salt.
For Meat
  • 400 gr. beef, veal, sausage or jam.
  • 200gr. salted mushrooms.
For Fish
  • 400 gr. Fish (any kind).
  • 6 pickled cucumber.
  • Boil the eggs after that add mustard, kvass and horseradish and then mix all together for a minute.

  • All ingredients should be chopped finely.

  • Toss the ingredients together, season the mix with sugar and salt.

  • Cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
